Teaching
I teach Sociological Inquiry (SOCIOL 110) here at Duke - typically in the Spring. Here is a syllabus from last time I taught the course. “Intro” is one of my favorite courses to teach - many of the students are being exposed to sociology for the first time, and I enjoy showing them (and getting them excited about) how sociology relates to their own lives and whatever they want to do for their career.
I also often teach Leadership and Collaboration (SOCIOL 227/PSYC 227). Here’s a syllabus for that course.
I’ve taught Organizations and Management and a special topics seminar in Social Psychology (graduate-level course) as well, along with undergraduate statistics courses at South Carolina and courses on prosocial leadership at Michigan.
I’ve received a “Top Instructor” award here at Duke, and was also nominated for the Judith Deckers Prize for teaching excellence.
This photo was not actually taken while I was teaching a course, but during a research talk. I don’t typically look this polished or important while teaching.
